Choice Cut: Brother Reggie slows it down on “Love Song”

SoulTrackers know that we are fans of DC-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Brother Reggie. Reggie’s instantly recognizable baritone voice has powered a series of “UnderCover Brother” albums, where he has interpreted a collection of pop and soul music classics.

Now Reggie gives us another sneak peek from his upcoming third album in the series, UnderCover Brother Vol. 3: Undeniable. “Love Song” was a much-revered album cut from Elton John’s 1970 album, Tumbleweed Connection. A gentle acoustic number with flowing harmonies, “Love Song” was a piece of musical wisdom that became one of John’s most popular non-singles and a favorite love ballad: “The words I have to say may well be simple but they’re true; Until you give your love, there’s nothing more that we can do.”

Now more than a half century later, Brother Reggie gives the song new life through a beautiful new version, featuring his acoustic guitar and a touching vocal performance. “Love Song” is our newest SoulTracks Choice Cut. Check it out below and welcome back Brother Reggie.
