The new album from saxlegend and Grammy Lifetime Achievement award winner Benny Golson hits storesthis week via Concord Jazz (CD & digital).
 
New Time, New ‘Tet is Golson’s firstnew studio recording in five years and elaborates the traditional jazztetconcept; combining Golson’s new compositions with standard jazz repertoire. Thealbum features classics like Thelonious Monk’s “Epistrophy,” Sonny Rollins’“Airegin,” and Grammy-winning vocalist Al Jarreau reprises Golson’s classic“Whisper Not.”

Led by Benny Golson, the debut of his new jazztet features heavyweightmusicians Eddie Henderson (trumpet), Steve Davis (trombone), Mike LeDonne(piano), Buster Williams (bass) and Carl Allen (percussion). The stellar sextetrevives the legendary group’s highly regarded three-horn front line, along withits classic, tight ensemble work and sophisticated sound.

Concord Jazz have also released ‘TheBest Of Benny Golson’  a career-spanning retrospective compilation releasein celebration of Golson’s 80th birthday.
