Official Biography (courtesy of Star Murphy)
Star Murphy first discovered her vocal abilities at the age of seven. Since then, she has continued to work towards perfecting her craft. Her first live performance took place during a major Broadway production at her middle school. It was then where she performed her first solo, "What a Beautiful Morning," and received a standing ovation. From that moment on, she realized her God given talents and found a love in performing. In high school, she joined the choir and became a founding chapter member of "Women of Music," a music sorority where her line name was "Superstar."
After high school, Star Murphy went on to further her education at Tennessee State University. There she held a spot on both the university choir and in the Music department’s performance band. While keeping up with her studies, Star was able to maintain her passion in singing and songwriting. She broke her way into the entertainment scene as a club promoter with A-List Entertainment Group. She became known for bringing several celebrities to Nashville and for performing at college parties to build a buzz for herself. By teaming up with DJ Wheezy, she was able to enhance her buzz from local to regional and gain support from several DJ’s and radio stations in the process.
With a huge local following, Star was able to bring out over 900 people for her birthday party and gain a captive audience for her music. Her street single "Swagg On" ft. Wacka Flocka received over 20,000 downloads on hotnewhiphop.com. With much support for the single from radio stations across the country, she went on to release the official video for her R&B rendition of "O Let’s Do It" on Worldstarhiphop.com. Star Murphy is one of the few independent artists to be featured on Worldstarhiphop.com with the video and her studio session with Wacka Flocka.
