Sherrick was a talented, briefly popular singer in the mid-80s who was best known for the fine hit single “Just Call.”  Sherrick was given his first break by Berry Gordy’s former wife, Raynoma, and he became the lead singer of the group Kagny and had a song on the soundtrack from the Motown movie, The Last Dragon.  However, his relationship with the label and rumored poor work habits ended the relationship.

Warner Brothers signed Sherrick and it was as a solo artist that he scored hits on his debut album with “Just Call” and, to a lesser extent, “Let’s Be Lovers.”  What appeared to be the beginning of a promising career never materialized due to Sherrick’s bad drug habit, which essentially froze his career for the next decade. An attempted comeback in the late 90s came to a sad ending when Sherrick died suddenly in 1999.
