C.E.L.

Official Biography (courtesy of CEL)

Unbelievable! Multi-Talented! Creative! Beautiful!…Are some of the words that comes to mind when you initially hear the musical talents of Chanda E. Long.  Not only is she a talented singer, she’s also a beautiful songwriter.  Her unbelievable skills are displayed through her music, where she is creative enough to write sing (leads & backgrounds), and vocally arrange all of her songs.

C.E.L. (pronounced cell), which is an acronym for her name, is prepared to make her mark for Detroit, Michigan’s already famous musical map.  Creating inroads and highways in R&B and Hip-Hop Soul for a new kind of woman, C.E.L. has crossed many musical bridges on a quest to find a style that’s one of a kind.  Returning from this unique journey she’s brought back a rhythm.  Her style is a beautiful blend of rhythmic, melodic, harmonic, R&B and Hip-Hop music that when mixed together gives birth to a heavenly sound.

Being no stranger to the college scene, C.E.L. created herself a strong following while attending Michigan State University. She was known as a local celebrity.  C.E.L. had won nearly every talent contest held within 100 miles.  In fact she won so many events, that people would only enter if she was hosting and not performing.  After doing the talent contest thing, C.E.L. went on to do her own video-show called "C.E.L. Therapy".  Wanting to continue to grow she applied and was hired as an On-Air Personality for Lansing’s leading R&B and Hip-Hop radio station 96.5 WQHH.  C.E.L.’s show, "The Planet" aired weekdays from 6-10pm.  With C.E.L. "The Planet" was the hottest show within its market.  Not only was C.E.L. afforded the chance to meet and interview national acts, occasionally she was asked to open for them.

Performing with huge celebrities is nothing new for this multi-talented Hip-Hop Soul artist.  Her first performance came as a teen with another gifted Detroit teenager, named Aaliyah.  C.E.L. got a chance to perform with the late Aaliyah in a New York "Hot 97" Radio Station sponsored event in Jamaica, which also featured the late Notorious B.I.G., P. Diddy, Craig Mack, Mad Lion, and Radio Personalities Ed Lover and Dr. Dre.  They also performed together at one of Southern University’s Homecomings along with OutKast, and UGK. C.E.L. has since gone on to open again for the Grammy Award Winning Hip-Hop Duo OutKast, and notable artists such as  Dwele, Slum Village, Obie Trice, Art Porter, Penny Wells, and R&B Male Singing Sensation New Edition.

Once you experience all of C.E.L.’s musical talents or if you just sit and have a conversation with her, you’ll find yourself walking away saying she has "it". "It" being that something special that separates the average from that mega star artist…and C.E.L. is unequivocally a mega star on the rise.
