May 10, 2020 — Welcome back to Another Groove, our series dedicated to new music that is neither pure soul nor R&B but which contains elements of those genres and may please your ears. This week we feature the track “Lento” (“Slowly”) by Lauren Jauregui.
Lauren is a singer and songwriter who first rose to fame as a member of the vocal group Fifth Harmony. She released her debut solo single “Expectations” in October 2018 and is currently working on her first album. Lauren’s music trends toward Latin rhythms with soul and R&B accents, and her voice is rich, supple and entrancing. “Lento” features Lauren riding a decidedly Reggaeton beat with hints of hip hop and R&B in her phrasing and attitude.
