Ms Monique

Florida-born singer Ms. Monique has become a Southern Soul favorite this decade with her brand of sassy and overtly sensual music.  Possessing a strong, classic soul voice reminiscent of Betty Wright, she has opted for material more in line with the racier 70s and 80s output of Millie Jackson.

After years working backup for other singers such as the O’Jays and BB King, in 2005 Ms. Monique released her debut album, Soul Sessions Chapter 1, which showed her to have both an attractive voice and a good sense of melody as a writer, with the album only being occasionally marred by tired sexual cliches.

She returned in 2007 with the very good single “You Did It To You,” as she prepared for her second album release.
