(November 25, 2020) Okay, this one is my fault. I’ve been hearing the buzz about singer Alex Harris for a few months now, however his music remained on my “stack,” unlistened to. But I discovered – later than I should have – that this R&B vocalist is the real deal, with a sound that has equal parts classic soul and Gospel. He calls it New Age Soul music, a style that combines compelling sounds with a message of spiritual revival to uplift humanity.
All those elements come through on Harris’s new single “Falling For You,” a song worthy of the anticipated Sam Cooke comparisons. Harris says, “’Falling for You’ is about finding love and being in love for the “long-haul”. The song is a story of a man who experiences a love like he never thought he could, or would. After finding ‘love’ he realizes when one finds the ‘right person, it is as if time standstill… and every day he experiences something new about his love that makes him fall deeper in love with her over and over again.”
Harris not only delivers meaningful lyrics, he proves himself to be a vocalist who can wrap his considerable skills around a song to give it that “instant classic” feel.
