But no matter what the time or era, some folks can always find reasons to love and make love…more specifically, folks like Grammy-award-winning self-proclaimed loveman, Raheem DeVaughn. Even in the midst of civil unrest and uncertainty, he’s still about romancing the ladies with modern-day swag with classic twists and influence, heard prominently in the first single from his upcoming eighth release (What a Time to Be In Love, 11/20), “Mr. Midnight.”
If one were to put together a “Busy in the Boudoir” Starter Pack, “Mr. Midnight” would easily become part of its soundtrack, thanks to its whispery, staccato groove, Raheem’s dulcet falsetto and libido-laden lyrics that would earn thumbs-up approval from Marvin Gaye. Like one of DeVaughn’s earliest hits, “Customer,” “Mr. Midnight” promises prompt service with longevity, a smile……and little else. Priorities, right? After dedicating himself to becoming her One-Stop Shop and fulfill her “freaky little thoughts and midnight fantasies,” Raheem proclaims breathlessly that she better be ready to binge on sexy time, as “We’re gonna keep on goin,’ from 12:01, til it’s six in the mornin’.” Overtime and after hours—-quite the package, no?
Penned by DeVaughn and featuring the production skills of 812LABS Media Group and L’indecis, Raheem’s “Mr. Midnight” combines equal parts sexuality, sensuality and a willingness to get the job done. And for the ladies, few qualities are more appealing, and enduring, than those.
