First Listen: Donnell Isaac knows those “Love Changes”

(February 5, 2018) — “Love Changes” was one of those slow jams that drew couples to the floor back in the 1970s and it became a staple of Quiet Storm radio formats in the 1980s. The tune featured the power packed vocals on Joyce “Baby Jean” Kennedy, and a lot of people thought they were hearing Chaka Khan.

“Love Changes” doesn’t get a lot of play even on old school formats, but Portsmouth, Va. native and Greensboro, N.C. resident Donnell Isaac brings his own unique take to this classic track that will be included on his upcoming record. The tune matches his husky and rangy baritone that was first heard in the Pentecostal church of his youth and has performed everything from gospel, to inspirational anthems to classic R&B. It’s a winner and makes us look forward to hearing more. Check it out.
