(November 4, 2017) Honey Larochelle refuses to be bound by things such as genre. She moves effortlessly from the classic soul fused with some contemporary R&B elements on her 2013 album The Yes Feeling to EDM influenced EP Hijack. Larochelle’s latest project will have a reggae dancehall feel. The project drops on Nov. 11 and it titled 11:11 because LaRochelle and Danish Pharfar recorded 11 song in as many days.

One of those tracks, “Freedom,” is both timely and political. As Larochelle says, “I feel that this song is really appropriate now considering our political climate. The opening line says ‘Hey Mr President, how much you charge for privacy,’ which is emblematic of the problems that we are facing right now and that many in countries around the world are facing as well. The quest for freedom is so fundamentally human and that’s something we can all connect to so even though I wrote the song when I did I feel that it will resonate with listeners for generations to come because of this universal search for freedom. Also having Chuck Fenda bless the record in such a powerful way was so meaningful. He truly brings a hot humble fire to the track that makes me immediately warm up to this new sound and feel welcome in this new realm that is essentially foreign to me.” Check it out.
