World Premiere: Rina Chanel sings the universal language of soul on “Je Ne Sais Quoi”

(February 15, 2023) The term “Je Ne Sais Quoi” is a flexible French term that means having a special quality that is difficult to describe. It is a beautiful phrase, and it is the centerpiece of the new song by up-and-coming vocalist Rina Chanel. Chanel burst onto the scene three years ago with the tasty single, “Worthy,” which became an international hit and won for her a Best New Artist nomination in the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards.

The new single, written and produced by Chanel’s longtime collaborator Bennie Pearce, allows the Virginia Beach, Virginia-based singer to strut her multilingual stuff, with a light dance beat underpinning her crisp vocal phrasing. The song has a decidely early-80s R&B feel that should sound as good while you’re driving around as it does in the club.

We’re pleased to present the World Premiere of “Je Ne Sais Quoi.” Check it out below and welcome the talented Rina Chanel back to SoulTracks.
