(November 16, 2020) The members of the a cappella group Duwendé (Doo-WEN-day) have been doing their thing together for awhile now, and thankfully the world is getting to know their ultra-cool harmonies.
The sextet (J. Aaron Boykin, Derrick Hicks, Abbey Janes, Tomás Cruz, Edward Chung and David Lane) takes their energetic, R&B meets pop meets hip-hop sound to the next level on their newest single, “Little Bit of This.” The song, with its beat-box underpinning and vocal interplay is absolutely smile inducing, making it even more of a treat for us to be presenting the World Premiere of the accompanying video.
The group tells us “We wrote the beat to the song several years ago, and when we began writing new tunes we happily rediscovered it while going through old archives. The tone matched what we wanted from our new originals — unique and slightly edgy, but familiar as well. The idea for this song was to try and capture a time in your life when a regular night out with friends had the potential to turn into one of the best nights of your life. The video was shot in Brooklyn, just before the pandemic shut things down. We wanted to keep the look of the video bright and upbeat to match the tone of the song, and we got lucky that we were able to shoot it all together before that became difficult!”
