(September 20, 2022) Danny Toeman knows that he’s not the archetypal blues or soul man, but he’s betting that it won’t matter once you hear him sing. That’s a bet the Brit is bound to win. “Feel My Soul” puts Toeman in front of the classic soul setting. He could have been playing in Muscle Shoals or Memphis with those tightly harmonized horns, the electric organ and those Steve Cropper guitar riffs.
All of that would have fallen apart if the voice wasn’t there. The voice was there. Toeman can take it from a gravelly, rock bottom baritone to a buttery angelic falsetto. That range and bear it all honesty and vulnerability suit the message that Toeman delivers on “Feel My Soul” perfectly. Toeman is baring his soul on “Feel My Soul.”
The song tells the story of a man who traveled far only to see a picture of his heart’s desired hugged up with another man. But he’s come too far not to speak his piece, and he lays it all on the line, telling her to listen to her heart and not what her eyes see or the nonsense that her friends are putting in her head. It’s a classic vocal performance to go with a classic sound. Check out Danny Toeman’s “Feel My Soul” here.
