Great news for SoulTrackers and other lovers of the greatest show on television, TV One’s “Unsung.” TV One announced the final schedule for the sixth season of the show that will begin on January 23, 2013. It promises to be another great season but at a new night as the show moves to Wednesdays.
This time around, artists who will be Unsung’ed will include Eddie Kendricks, The Whispers, EPMD, Lou Rawls, Midnight Star, Johnny Gill and Isaac Hayes. In addition, there will be an Unsung two hour special on Disco, telling the definitive tale of an American phenomenon, featuring two dozen musical performances and commentary by legendary Disco survivors Gloria Gaynor, Nile Rodgers, Thelma Houston, The Village People, KC of the Sunshine Band. As always the shows will be narrated by actor Gary Anthony Williams.

1/23 – Isaac Hayes
1/30 – Midnight Star
2/6 – EPMD
2/13 – Lou Rawls
2/20 – Disco Tribute (2 hour special)
2/27 – Eddie Kendricks
3/6 – The Whispers
3/13 – Mint Condition
3/20 – Johnny Gill
As TV One explains it, “Unsung focuses on profiling gifted musical talents who have played an important role in recent music history, but have not necessarily become household names. The featured artists have contributed significantly to popular culture and have compelling life stories, the details of which have largely remained untold.”
