Gamble & Huff, Patti LaBelle lead Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame class of 2017 nominations

(November 17, 2016) Detroit, MI – The Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame has named it’s nominations for the Class of 2017, and the list is winding and diverse, including Gamble & Huff, Patti LaBelle, Berry Gordy, Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Paul, Janet Jackson, Jon Platt, Bobby “Blue” Bland, Dee Dee Sharp and Clive Davis. The rest of this year’s hopefuls are Dick Clark, The Intuders, Barry White, Georgie Woods, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Joe Tex, The Three Degrees, Soul Survivors and Isaac Hayes.

The top ten vote-getters will be announced in February, Black History Month, but won’t be inducted into the Hall of Fame until June, Black Music Month with a ceremony. This year’s ceremony will be nationally broadcast.

Last year’s induction class included TV One Founder Cathy Hughes, Dionne Warwick, Eddie Holman, Smokey Robinson, Prince, Fats Domino, Jimi Hendrix and The Supremes.
