(April 3, 2021) Today we say a sad goodbye to disco star Patrick Juvet, who has died at age 70 in Barcelona, Spain. The Swiss singer-songwriter had a string of hits in the 70s, the biggest of which the international smash was “I Love America.”

Born in Montreux, Switzerland, Juvet moved to Paris in 1968, and there he recorded a series of singles that has some success, working with musician Jean-Michel Jarre. But it was his teaming with hot disco producers Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo (who were riding high on their work with The Village People) in 1978 that led two back to back hits in “Got a Feeling” and the falsetto-filled “I Love America,” and an album on the iconic American disco label Casablanca Records.

Juvet continued recording into the early 80s, but his hitmaking waned with the decline of disco. He continued to find some success for new music in France, but reportedly struggled personally with depression and alcoholism, as was detailed  in his 2005 autobiography, Souvenirs.

While Patrick Juvet had only a brief period in the sun, he left a number of songs that continue to be cherished by those who grew up during the dancingest time in music history. May he rest in peace.
