(November 4, 2022) We are sad to report the passing of British soul man, singer Noel McKoy at age 62. No cause of death has been reported. Known for his expressive tenor voice, McKoy was the voice of seemingly countless hits both under his own name and as a guest for other artists.
The London-born McKoy was part of the family act McKoy as well as the famed James Taylor Quartet before breaking out on his own as a solo singer in the early 90s.
McKoy was comfortable singing various styles, from Gospel to R&B to Jazz to Pop, and his vocal talent made him a much sought after collaborator with acts like Atlantic Starr, Citrus Sun and Omar. He also recorded duets with the likes of Mica Paris, Vanessa Simon and Beverley Knight.
In the 90s and 2000s, McKoy released four solo albums, beginning with the popular Full Circle in 1993. He also continued to provide vocals to the albums of several other artists, and opened the Dutch Pot nightclub in London, which became a favorite spot for intimate sets of other artists.
McKoy was loved by other artists for his talent and his generosity of spirit, and he will be greatly missed.
