Israel & New Breed was on hand for the 80th birthday celebration for Dr. Maya Angelou. The Grammy-winning group serenaded Angelou with "If Not For Your Grace", a single from their current CD, A Deeper Level. The celebrity tribute was hosted by Lynn Whitfield (actress) and Tyler Perry (producer/writer/actor) and the night’s line-up included: Quincy Jones, Chris Tucker, Bernice King, Mayor Shirley Franklin and others at the Symphony Hall in Atlanta, GA.. Ambassador Andrew & Carolyn Young and Walter & Sonjia Young were the visionaries for this gala. They wanted to create a memorable event for their long-time friend that would celebrate her life and accomplishments. The many facets of Angelou’s life was presented in various phases: Dance, Human Rights, and Spirituality with each segment featured one of the evening’s special guest. The night was filled with family, friends and well-wishers showing their gratitude for a life that has impacted people from every walk of life.
