“House Party” turns 30, and Bowlegged Lou tells the story

houseparty30

It can’t be…can it? House Party, the rambunctious, hilarious hip-hop movie that swept the world, is 30 years old.

This is one of those movies that every SoulTracker has seen. Produced by the Hudlin brothers and starring Kid and Play from the hip hop duo Kid ‘n Play, as well as Paul Anthony, Bowlegged Lou and B-Fine from Full Force, Robin Harris, Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, A.J. Johnson, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell and Gene “Groove” Allen, Kelly Jo Minter, John Witherspoon, and funkmaster George Clinton, the movie was a hit from the jump, and is now a retro classic.

But 30 years???

Bowlegged Lou of Full Force – a longtime SoulTracker – has created a short video looking back at the film, and it is making us smile from ear to ear. Check it out below, and then let’s go find House Party somewhere on TV!
