(December 11, 2023) They say the apple sometimes doesn’t fall far from the tree, and in the case of the Daughters of Legacy – the children of soul music legends Isaac Hayes, Millie Jackson, Ann Nesby, and Betty Wright, that’s a good thing. These women have worked solo and together for several years, and they show their strong musical lineage on their first single, “You Betta Know.”
The song was not only a jam, it became one of the most popular First Listens we ran on SoulTracks this year. And the love that SoulTrackers had for the group and the single continued right into voting for this year’s SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, where The Daughters of Legacy were voted in as Best New Artist.
We’re so happy for this deserving quartet, and group member Keisha Jackson was clearly happy too. Here is her acceptance video, which she asked us to share with SoulTrackers. Congratulations, Daughters of Legacy!
