Chick Corea Collaborates With Japanese Pianist Hiromi On Duet

Grammy-award winning pianistChick Corea released Duet,a 2-CD live performance with up-and-coming virtuosic Japanese pianist Hiromi, this week via Concord Records.

Originallyreleased in Japan in 2007 on Universal, Duetbecame the top-selling jazz album of theyear. The 12-track, 2-CD release marks Chick Corea’s first recorded pianoduet album since 1978’s An Evening WithHerbie Hancock & Chick Corea: In Concert.

Chick Corea & Hiromi 

Thefirst CD features an original by each pianist as well as four covers, includingThelonious Monk‘s "Bolivar Blues"and Lennon-McCartney‘s "Fool On TheHill." The second disc features two originals from Corea and Hiromi, and thetwo adventurously meld Joaquin VidreRodrigo‘s classic "Concierto de Aranjuez" with one of Corea’s best-knowntunes, "Spain."

Duet is a masterworkof remarkable pianists of two different generations and cultures who transcendall boundaries to converse with each other with an inspired exuberance and passion.
