(January 19, 2015) We are devastated to inform SoulTrackers of the death, at age 45, of Christopher “Big Dose” Thorne, longtime friend of SoulTracks and radio personality and promotions director of Roanoke, Virginia’s The Vibe (WVBE-FM, 100.1/97.7, 610 AM). Big Dose died over the weekend in a tragic bus crash while vacationing in Panama.

SoulTrackers will remember Big Dose as the rich, deep voice man behind the “voice overs” at the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards. Check out his work from our 2008 awards in the video below.

In the time we knew him, Dose showed us to be a man with a heart as big as his voice. The Brooklyn, New York native had worked as a DJ in several markets around the country, including Atlanta and Norfolk, before settling in at The Vibe in 2012.  We will greatly miss this talented disc jockey and music man. If you’d like to leave a message of condolences, write a comment below or at Dose’s Facebook page. Thanks to our friend Myron Ruffin for letting us know of this tragic passing. Godspeed, Big Dose.
