World Premiere: Maysa and Phil Perry are more than “Alright”

She is the most awarded female artist in the history of the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards. And for more than a quarter century she has established an incredible career, both as a member of Incognito and as a solo artist. And as those around her know, she never ever slows down. Of course, we’re talking about singer supreme, Maysa.

Last year, Maysa added record label founder to her resume, as she established her new Blue Velvet imprint with the beautiful song, “You Are Not Alone.” It was the first in a planned series she calls Music For Your Soul. And she now returns with another killer single, this time a duet with longtime friend and SoulTracks Award winner Phil Perry. “It’s Gonna Be Alright” is a cool midtempo jam, written by Barbara Perry and produced by longtime Maysa music director Chris “Big Dog” Davis

The song opens with Maysa’s recognizable alto vocals, giving an easygoing lead that builds to a beautiful back and forth with Phil Perry’s expressive tenor. And yes, you hear saxman supreme Kim Waters adding his sweet tones to the affair.

Maysa tells us, “Barbara Perry is a wonderful songwriter, and Chris Davis’ sublime arrangement is the perfect setting for Kim Waters’ sweet sax and the vocals of Phil Perry and me to help soothe and relax your mind and spirit while you create, meditate and pray.”

We think Maysa and company have hit the jackpot on this one, and we’re proud to present the World Premiere here on SoulTracks. Check out “It’s Gonna Be Alright” below and tell us what you think!
