Has there been a more heralded new soul artist of the past year than New Orleans raised, London based singer and songwriter Acantha Lang? She certainly has captured us at SoulTracks with her string of powerful, fully orchestrated singles, and true story messages about life, love and people. Our readers agreed, voting her as New Artist of the Year in our 2021 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards.
Now, as Acantha prepares her first full album, she has delivered another potent single, the driving “River Keep Runnin’.” A tasty blend of soul, blues and rock, the song turns up the traditional funk sound while telling a relatable story. Acantha tells us, “It’s all about going through dark times, feeling on edge…but somehow in the end you find the strength to stand up, fight, and keep on!”
With a full horn section, funk guitar and powerful rhythm section behind her, Acantha sings the heck out of this formidable upbeat song. We’re sweating just listening to it.
