V3 (2007)

While the uninformed have described V3 as “A Christian Destiny’s Child,” that moniker does neither the Vinson sisters (LaToya, Sacha and Shelley) nor their auspicious debut album justice.  Working with a handful of producers, including up-and-comer Antonio Neal, V3’s self-titled EMI Records debut comes off as an extremely infectious, melodic disc, with both solid dance numbers and beautifully performed ballads.  The album starts with the irresistible, beat-heavy “Let Go” and matches it with the bouncy  “Take Me There,” but it is a series of wonderful ballads that set it apart, including the disc’s first single, “I Need You,” “Thank You” and the gorgeous “Love Makes the World Beautiful.”  Fact is, there’s not a bad cut on the disc, and both Gospel and Soul music fans should find a lot to like with V3.  Congratulations to EMI Gospel for bringing out this talented trio and congratulations to V3 for releasing one of the year’s most enjoyable Gospel discs. Highly recommended.
