Grateful (2006)

Coko-Grateful.jpg

Over the years whenever SWV was mentioned, the natural progression of thought went straight to Coko. She was the sister in the forefront with the voice we'd come to love. Today, a more mature Coko emerges with the release of her solo gospel debut, Grateful. This project has quickly received a massive amount of praise, including a climb to the Top 10 new releases on the Billboard charts. Opening with power that screams through the speakers, Coko proclaims that she's been set free because Christ died to wash away her sins. Absolute standout songs on this album are the traditional but re-worked Donald Lawrence version of "What A Mighty God," which teases the listener with a bit of Lady Tibba, Coko's mother; and "Endow Me" which features powerhouses Fantasia, Faith Evans, and Lil Mo all singing their hearts out!! Early on, Coko professes that she's here to stay. Truly an understatement!
