One of the greatest groups to ever come out of Detroit, the Four Tops (Read the full biography here) consisted of four singers who made history with their music and their longevity, only being separated by death.

And while the Tops had literally dozens of hits over three decades of active recording, there were some terrific album cuts by them that didn’t get the shine they deserved — or that got the shine in the hands of someone else. And that’s the story of today’s Lost Gem, a terrific song that that Tops sang in 1982 but which didn’t become a major hit until more than a decade later in the hands of Whitney Houston.

Take a listen to Levi Stubbs and company giving us the goods on their terrific version of the ballad “I Believe In You And Me”
