Lost Gem: The Charlie Wilson & Marc Nelson duet that should be iconic

charliewilson

He’s one of the great voices of a generation. Both as the lead singer of The Gap Band and in a second act as a solo artist, Charlie Wilson has defied time, changing musical tastes and his own personal demons to become an all-timer.

The legendary Mr. Wilson was making his break from The Gap Band when he released the 2000 album Bridging The Gap, a disc that didn’t get the shine that it deserved. On it, he recorded a number of memorable cuts, one of which is our latest SoulTracks Lost Gem.

“For Your Love” featured AzYet singer Marc Nelson in a beautiful duet with Uncle Charlie. On it, a man is baring his soul to his lover, promising to do what it takes to keep her in his life.

So blind was I not to realize that you needed me.
I’m here to try and give you everything cause you made me see.
Maybe for your love I would cry and maybe for your love I would die.
Just tell me what to do to prove to you. I’m serious, serious
