Does it get better than this?
You may find yourselves asking that question after viewing this live performance of the ethereal Lizz Wright, created specially for promotion of a tribute concert to Ella Fitzgerald held recently at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. Covering Fitzgerald’s classic “The Nearness of You” with only an acoustic pianist at her side, Wright delivers such warmth, grace and nuance you’d think she were singing it to a lover just off camera. This is music at its finest. Enjoy.
