First Watch: Soul singer Kenya “Can’t Help It”

Soul singer Kenya made some waves with her 2010 debut EP, Starting Over, working with by Grammy Award winning producer Maurice Joshua (Beyonce, Michael Jackson). It boasted a raw rendition of Journey’s 1981 hit “Who’s Crying Now” and original numbers like the engaging “Never The Less.”

She returned in the autumn of 2012 with Jazz Made Rhythm, a moody smooth jazz approach to standards such as “My Funny Valentine” and “Summertime.” Within the last couple of years, the Chicago-based chanteuse has been named Best Singer of the Month by SingerUniverse.com and has been featured in an array of media outlets celebrating her music.

Kenya has returned and is rising the charts with The Sugaboom remix of her neo-soul cover of Michael Jackson’s “I Can’t Help It.” It’s a nice new version of an old favorite, and we think a lot of SoulTrackers will like this. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
