We first discovered singer and songwriter Elijah Bland five years ago when he released his album Soulcentric, and we immediately knew we liked him. And he continued to develop with his latest release, this year’s excellent EP, Freedom (click here to see our review).
The New Jersey native is now spotlighting his powerful singing and songwriting on his hit single “For The Record,” and he has a new video to boot! Our Melody Charles wrote that this testament to intimacy in a committed relationship “instantly recalls a circa mid-1980s Prince jam, but Mr. Bland’s sly and self-possessed delivery makes the song that much more intriguing of a listen.” The video features Broadway actress Saycon Sengbloh (Motown: The Musical) as Bland’s leading lady. With tasteful images of sensual romance, Bland’s video debut was made to evoke feelings that surely belong on a record.
