(March 24, 2016) Sometimes, there are combinations that are about as perfect as you can get. And that’s what’s happening with the joining together of two SoulTracks favorites, Gregory Porter and KEM.
An artist whose music is at once timeless yet utterly of its time, Gregory Porter is his generation’s most soulful jazz singer-songwriter and is a past SoulTracks Publisher’s Choice Artist of the Year. Native Detroiter KEM has been the King of urban adult contemporary music for over a decade and his most recent album was voted by SoulTrackers as Album of the Year. So when we heard these two were getting together for a new song and single, hitting radio this week, we were jumping for joy.
Even better, we’re honored to be presenting the World Premiere Exclusive of the video of their collaboration, “Holding On.” It is the smooth first single from Gregory’s upcoming May 6 album, Take Me to the Alley, the much-anticipated follow-up to his million-selling Grammy-winning 2013 Blue Note debut Liquid Spirit. And the two stars sound terrific together.
