First Listen: William “Smooth” Wardlaw gives Mother’s Day tribute

(May 10, 2019) William “Smooth” Wardlaw has been pleasing audiences for the past few years in the running show “Luther Re-Lives,” which pays tribute to the late, great Luther Vandross. One listen to Wardlaw’s smooth baritone and his phrasing, and you can tell why he is the guy to play Luther.

Wardlaw is also working on material outside of his tribute show. Working with producer and songwriter Deginal Boykin, he has fashioned a new song that sounds just right for Mother’s Day. “Momma I Love You” was written by Boykin in honor of his mother, who died three years ago. And Wardlaw wraps his familiar baritone around the gentle call-and-response number, making it a nice addition to the holiday.

Check out “Momma I Love You” below, and welcome William Wardlaw to SoulTracks.
