(November 6, 2020) For many years, the great Will Downing has held a special place for us at SoulTracks, and for our readers. He is the most awarded artist in the history of the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, and each of his releases has been an instant hit with us.
This year during the pandemic, Will has been focusing on releasing a series of individual singles, and his newest one will strike a dramatic chord for many SoulTrackers. “So Many Good Die Young,” co-written and co-produced by Will and Randy Bowland, is a celebration of the memories of lives who have touched us. It is particularly poignant during a year in which we’ve all come to realize a bit more just how precious life is.
The beautiful ballad, which will be released on November 11, is also accompanied by a short video that includes a montage of a number of artists, athletes and notable others who have left us too soon, including Kobe & Gigi Bryant, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Prince, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Aaliyah, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Chadwick Boseman. It is a beautiful tribute that fits appropriately with this touching song.
