(July 8, 2020) Of course SoulTrackers know Will Downing well, right? He is the most awarded artist in the history of the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, and with good reason. Year after year, he delivers the goods — tasty adult soul wrapped a warm baritone that never falters.
But while he is known as the Prince of Sophisticated Soul, many people forget that Will first started out as a favorite in the dance community, with a string of hot club singles. And now, after his well received series of Romantique EPs, Will returns to the club with a brand new single that will get our quarantined behinds moving again.
“Right Where You Are” is as infectious as it is groovalicious, as Will surrounds the beat with his cool tones, telling his lover that he needs to be where she is, even in a socially distanced time. It is the first of several songs he has worked on during the COVID months, and we hope it is a sign of things to come. It is just what we needed to hear this week.
