(October 7, 2019) Between them, they have a bucketload of SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards, and they’ve earned them by being beacons for the adult soul world. And when they join together, you know something special is going to happen.
When Will Downing arrived at the inspired concept for his upcoming album Romantique Part 1, a tribute to the great baritone singers of the past 50 years, such as Barry White, Lou Rawls, Jon Lucien, and more, he had a tough decision on just the right songs to pick. We’re so glad he picked “Déjà vu,” a classic song made popular by Dionne Warwick but written by the iconic Isaac Hayes. And we’re even happier that he turned it into a duet with Avery Sunshine, one of the brightest stars to emerge in the soul music world in the past decade.
We all know the song, but not like this. The new version by Will and Avery is an even smoother, sexier take on the original, with a late night vibe to it that hits 100% with us. The two artists simply sound exquisite together.
We’re extremely proud to present the World Premiere of “Déjà vu.“ Check it out below, and tell us what you think about this incredible pairing!
