First Listen: Wallstreet smooths out a classic on “Your Song”

(July 28, 2017) Odell Mickens is a fixture in the Philly/New Jersey area. He is the longtime bass player for The Trammps and worked with the great Bunny Sigler. A couple years ago, we reintroduced Odell to SoulTrackers via his new band, Wallstreet.  They’ve been hitting it in the Carolina Beach Music scene for a few years now, but on their newest song, the band — teaming with Philly saxman George Bussey — is smoothing it out with a cool remake of the classic hit, “Your Song.”

“Your Song” was originally the first stateside hit for Elton John. It was later an international hit for soul music legend Billy Paul, for whom Bussey served as music director for many years. And now it gets an entirely new take from Wallstreet.
