(October 3, 2023) It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from Thomas Hunter, although soul music fans hear a lot from Hunter as a member of the legendary singing group The Chairmen of the Board. However, Hunter’s last solo release came in 2009 when his album Eros dropped. Hunter is making a strong return to the public consciousness in 2023. He’s dropped a sweet ballad titled “Unforgettable Moments” that comes on the heels of the funk rocker “In Case It Rains.”
That track finds Hunter comparing the relationship troubles that he sees to storm clouds over the horizons, and he’s prepared to do what he can to protect his woman and his relationship from the turbulence. The new tune, “Unforgettable Moments,” is a vocal expression of what a lonely man would create if he had his woman in his arms.
The tune is a lush, piano driven ballad that has an arrangement fusing jazz with R&B. That instrumental arrangement serves as the perfect foundation for Hunter’s husky and rangy vocal. “Unforgettable Moments” is the kind of song suited for soul music fans longing for songs that bring the elements of voice, lyric, and arrangement together for five enjoyable minutes.
