(December 6, 2021) When the pandemic didn’t have us hiding from each other, it had plenty of us scrambling. That is especially true of the members of the world artistic community. Regardless of whether they sang, danced, acted, or engaged in a visual art such as painting, creative artists had to redefine creativity in a way that included finding ways to get their work before the public at a time when shuttered bars, concert halls and museums made live performance and exhibits impossible.

Late last year, the pandemic provided the Australian band The Teskey Brothers with a rare if somewhat disconcerting opportunity when the quartet performed their songs while backed by the Orchestra Victoria at an empty Hamer Hall in Melbourne. The date became possible because the pandemic forced the cancellation of the orchestra’s performance season. In the midst of the crisis caused by the pandemic, The Teskey Brothers and Orchestra Victoria seized the opportunity to entertain the people by giving the Grammy nominated band the full orchestral treatment.

We know how giving a pop act full orchestral backing can give listeners a new take on the music that they enjoy, and watching this performance of The Teskey Brothers’ song “So Caught Up” we see that brothers Sam, Josh, Liam and Brenden Teskey enjoyed hearing their music enlarged by an orchestra. The entire 50-minute concert has been recorded and will be released on Dec. 3 as a project called Live at Hamer Hall. SoulTrackers get a chance to check out the performance of “So Caught Up” on this First Listen. Check it out here.
