Song of the Month: Teri Tobin gives us a nighttime jewel with “You Are”

We’ve been big fans of soulful singer supreme Teri Tobin for a decade, since she independently released the beautiful album Love Infinity. And ever since, she has been her own performer, writing and singing her very personal songs, often about the ups and downs of personal relationships. As Teri puts it, “You know me. I’ll always sing about love, especially when my personal life inspires it.”

It’s been awhile since we’ve been blessed with new music from Teri (2014’s Truth Is), but she has just released a song that should touch her longtime fans…and make some new ones. “You Are” is a romantic, nighttime ballad that recalls a time when soul radio featured producers like Norman Connors and rich-voiced songstresses galore. The sneak peek single from the highly anticipated upcoming album Forever bears a full sound that is both timeless and right on time, as we look for beauty in the most troubling year of our lives. And Teri Tobin sounds simply wonderful up front.

Produced by Grammy nominated Tone Jonez, and with a special trumpet solo by Dre King, “You Are” should find a welcome response on Adult Soul radio, and will definitely be on repeat with SoulTrackers.

“You Are” is our Song of the Month, and a very welcome return of the great Teri Tobin back to SoulTracks.
