Her powerful voice was developed over a lifetime, with time performing in varied genres such as gospel and opera. But you can’t be from Philadelphia and not have a love for R&B, and that’s the side of Tanqueray that shows up in her debut single, “This Thing.”
The former background singer has teamed with noted soul man T.L. Shider for the song, which has a 90s R&B vibe. The cut tells the familiar tale of a woman who is getting ready for a much anticipated Friday night date, and what might happen. A strong beat and call-and-response vocals stand behind Tanqueray’s powerful lead, creating a song that should fit comfortably on a dancefloor or on your living room stereo.
