We are new to the party with Whitney Marshall, aka Sympli Whitney, but the Massachusetts born and raised singer is making a name for herself around the world.
Over the years, Whitney has combined her love for music with her love for people. She sang for the group The Big Bang Theory in college before enlisting in the US Army and serving overseas. She later became a successful healthcare administrator in the Boston area and decided to again pursue her musical dream.
Whitney formed her band Sympli Whitney in 2012 and immediately began getting attention for her strong vocals and smooth grooves, including an appearance on BET’s Apollo Live.
Whitney is now releasing her new album, Ryze of the Phoenix, and the sounds should be very appealing to SoulTrackers. She tells us, “It has always been a strong desire to share my love of music with appreciative listeners. This album puts on display my passion for music and all the various emotions it carries us through.I hope somewhere in this album you find a rhythm that moves you. Welcome to my journey“
The album’s lead single, “The Best” has an adult soul feel and a groove reminiscent of 80s acts like The SOS Band. We like it a lot and are happy to present it as our newest SoulTracks First Listen. Check it out below and tell us what you think!
