A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I, who are both from Detroit, were talking about Detroit Gospel singers, and the name Stan Jones aka Stan J came up. We talked about how he was respected around the city and released solid projects over the years including one with Leah Jones from the group Witness. She actually used to skate with him. We both left the conversation wondering if Stan was still releasing music.
Wonder no more! Stan J is back with his newest single, entitled “Always With Me.” It’s a Gospel/Soul hybrid that speaks of how great it is to have a relationship with God and knowing that no matter what is going on, He is present in our lives. Stan’s vocal performance on this song draws comparisons to such Gospel vocalists such as Smokie Norful and Sam Cooke. It’s an honest ballad that officially welcomes him back to world of Contemporary Gospel after a nine year absence.
Hopefully there is will be an even more official return with a full album, but in the meantime enjoy “Always With Me” and look for future releases from Stan J.
