(July 9, 2020) Funk is a worldwide language and it spans the globe. In the 1970s The Average White Band came from Scotland and created a number of songs that are definitely part of the funk music canon. The outfit known as the SilverTwins of Funk wants to show that Sweden can also get down on the one. The lead single from their upcoming EP is titled “Sunday Funk,” and it is a track that shows the group went to school on the spacy, synthesized funk of the late 1970s. The song sports a driving and infectious bass line that will have listeners instantly moving their toe to the beat.
The members have been working in funk bands for years. Fredrik “Fronkpac” Jahn decided to follow his own vision and started writing songs. He shared those songs with another veteran of Sweden’s funk scene, Mr. Emrik ‘M-Rock’ Larsson. Another, friend and funkateer, Mattias ‘The Guitarman’ Adolfsson came on board and the Silvertwins of Funk hit the scene in 2017.
The SilverTwins began to expand organically, adding a backing vocalist and other members to give the band the sound that you hear on “Sunday Funk.” Check out the SilverTwins of Funk of “Sunday Funk” here.
