Sananda Maitreya (fka Terence Trent D’Arby) celebrates 62nd birthday with new single

(March 16, 2024) Back in 1987, Sananda Maitreya – then going by the name Terence Trent D’Arby – took the world by storm with his incredible debut solo album Introducing The Hardline According to Terence Trent D’Arby and the international hits “Wishing Well,” “If You Let Me Stay” and “Sign Your Name.”

Well, time flies and this week Maitreya celebrates his 62nd birthday, and to celebrate he is sharing an appropriately titled single from his new album The Pegasus Project: Pegasus & The Swan.

“The Birthday Song” is a guitar-driven number that boasts elements of rock and funk, and even a bit of psychedelia. And up front are Matireya’s gorgeously recognizable raspy vocals. “Birthday” if the first single from the ambitious an album that  41 tracks presented as two sides – ‘Pegasus’ and ‘The Swan’ – that are summarised as “A Horse that flies & a Swan that never dies.”

It is great to hear Maitreya again, and listening the fun new single is getting us excited to listen to his other music, old and new. Check it out below.
