World Premiere: Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics “Forgive” in the best way

(July 10, 2019) A few months ago we introduced SoulTrackers to the incredible Atlanta-based soul and funk band, Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics, and you all jumped right in. With elements of Stax-style Southern soul and a style that is both classic and all their own, RVS has thrust itself into the consciousness of soul fans all over.

Ruby Velle’s strong, sultry voice stand out up front, and it is supported full-bodied arrangements that include powerful horns and a killer rhythm section. And the band’s proficiency has led the band to dates with Erykah Badu, The Temptations, Gary Clark Jr. and many more, and has made their sophomore album, State of All Things, an underground hit.

RVS now has a new single coming that should continue their ascent. Here’s what they tell us about “Forgive, Live, Repeat”: “Forgive, live, repeat is perhaps the funkiest song you’ll ever hear about forgiveness. The songs heavy surf rock meets soul vibe is a perfect live song for our set, and I’ve always loved the way the band gets into this song to instantly pick up a crowd. Lyrically, the song comes from the many trials of being involved in independent music making, or any artistry really, and the souls and situations you encounter along the way. But with anything, it’s mainly about self-love and self-growth, not those exterior things, it’s about how we always have the ability to reframe our circumstances, choose forgiveness no matter what, and go on in the pursuit of living our best lives.”

We just love it, and we’re proud to be presenting the World Premiere of “Forgive, Live, Repeat.” Check it out below and welcome Ruby Velle and the Soulphonics back to SoulTracks!
