(October 13, 2021) When a producer/musician has the knack for finding the right vocalists in crafting a unique pieces of musical art, the end results can build into a signature career. And the talented Regi Myrix has had that knack, resulting in a series of #1 hits on the UK Soul Charts with contributing vocalists such as Noel Gourdin and Hil St. Soul.
Since 2017, New Jersey native Myrix has been able to concentrate more on his first love after years of juggling the industry with day jobs. And with his sharp and crisp productions he has delivered a body of work highlighted by grooved gems accented by vocals filled with sweet soulful glee. Myrix’s latest full-length, Blak Buttah Vol. 2 bridges old and new steppers, and disco, thrown in by a pinch of funk.
All the songs on Blak Buttah Vol. 2 are geared towards a positive viewpoint. On the latest First Listen installment, the singer/songwriter duo, Ty Juan and Shawndella, join Myrix on “It’s a Vibe,” where the bass and beats and nineties vibe entice the listener for a let loose nineties party groove.
Fitting in with Blak Buttah Vol. 2’s positive theme, “It’s a Vibe” focuses on alleviating the weight of stress of daily living: “I’m in my element/I’m really loving it/Left all my worries/Cause they’re all irrelevant.” This day and age, anything that resembles “It’s A Vibe” provides a much-needed detour. And we can thank Myrix for this public service. Check it out!
