(October 17, 2022) Judging by the bio on her website, one could say that singer/songwriter Rebecca Jade is a modern day renaissance woman. Attended UC Berkeley on a basketball scholarship and studied Theater & Performance. Went on to earn an MBA as well as studied classical and jazz. Sang backup for Sir Elton John, opened for Will Downing and Jeffrey Osborne, jammed with Sheila E at the Grammys salute to Prince. And oh yeah – earned honors for her indie solo works at the San Diego Music Awards most recently. Whew!
One listen to her breezy single, “Show Me”, and one can hear why Rebecca earned such high praise. The mid-up-tempo track opens with her sweet soprano and the bass/rhythm laying down the groove. The guitar joins in along with sweet keyboard flourishes. Then after the chorus, Rebecca accelerates the tempo smoothly like a well oiled engine in one’s favorite ride.
The story in the song is a common one – asking one’s lover to show their feelings after that person laid their love and soul cards on the table. But Rebecca doesn’t fall into any cliches here, just expressing her love directly and honestly – “Loving you can be so right – .if you let me…”
Ms. Jade’s publicist Rick Scott gave this writer the heads up regarding her works in a press release a few weeks ago. So, when the Soul Tracks folks asked me to review her single. I was definitely thrilled to do so. Rebecca Jade has much more music to share, with “Tell Me” as the tasty appetizer to the delicious dish that is her upcoming album, “A Shade of Jade”. For now enjoy this breezy cool treat.
