First Listen: Penny Wells and LaShawn D. Gary give us “Everything”

(March 5, 2024) People spend a lot of time and effort searching for motivation. Penny Wells, Detroit’s voice for all seasons, has released a new song that serves as an inspirational reminder that sometimes you just have to encourage and motivate yourself.

“Everything You’re Looking For” finds Wells putting her sweet vocals to a song that lets each listener know that they are enough. Greatness lies within each of us and all we must do is understand that the material is there and then act on what we know.

Wells is a voice for all genres who is equally at home singing jazz, gospel, R&B, pop, and blues, and “Everything You’re Looking For” is a song that has spiritual and secular message. Lyrically, Wells draws on both scripture and the language of motivational speakers to develop her message that you are the one that you have been waiting for.

Wells penned the lyrics and another Detroiter, pianist LaShawn D. Gary served as composer. Check out Wells and Gary’s collaboration of “Everything You’re Looking For” here.
